Hereford Community Arts CIC currently runs a twice weekly Creative Cafe in Hereford and Leominster aimed at people with mental health issues, disabilities and long term health conditions, as well as those experiencing social deprivation, loneliness and social isolation.
This project is kindly supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, Talk Community, Revive Community Cafe and Leominster Community Centre. Our aim is to increase participation in art and creativity to increase the numbers of people socialising and improve the health and wellbeing of those that take part.
By connecting more people to art we not only improve wellbeing, but also impact the local community. This has economic benefits in rural communities and produces revenue to local businesses.
Hereford Community Arts CIC aims to make a distinctive contribution to people's health and wellbeing in three ways:
- To encourage activity amongst the inactive, those recovering from illness and isolated age groups who may not participate in the arts.
-We incorporate the therapeutic element, bringing people into contact with Art and Creativity to maintain positive mental health and wellbeing.
-By bringing people together, we build a stronger social community that facilitates relationship building and participation in social life essential to good health and active ageing.
We work closely with mental health organisations, schools and social prescribing link workers. If you would like to get in touch with us regarding Social Prescribing for self referral or if you know somebody who might benefit, please contact Hereford Community Arts CIC via the contact button in the main menu.
